The above BIN file is configured for:
• Glitch Works XT-IDE Rev 4
• Glitch Works XT-IDE Rev 4 switches set to base I/O address (I/O port) of 300h
• Glitch Works XT-IDE Rev 4 jumpers set to hi-speed mode
• A computer that is not an Olivetti M24, AT&T PC6300, Xerox 6060, or Logabax Persona 1600 (see note 1 below)
There are two options for using the BIN file:
• With this preconfigured BIN file (preconfigured for the Glitch Works XT-IDE Rev 4), you can use an EPROM programmer to program a 28C64 EEPROM.
• Or use XTIDECFG.COM supplied with this XUB version (see here) to write this preconfigured BIN file (preconfigured for the Glitch Works XT-IDE Rev 4) directly to a 28C64 EEPROM fitted to the Glitch Works XT-IDE Rev 4.
If using this to upgrade from a much older version, then sometimes, you may need to wipe the MBR on the CF card, then at the vintage computer, perform FDISK+FORMAT (example) operations on the CF card.
Technical: This is the IDE_XT.BIN file from the released R629 package, reconfigured using XTIDECFG.COM as follows: 'Device type' setting changed to 'XT-IDE rev 2 or modded rev 1'.
Note 1
Those computers require a different 'Device type' setting in the XUB. See here.
