ISA PicoMEM
January 2025
For PC-class and XT-class vintage computers, an 'ISA PicoMEM' card in the vintage computer.
As required, move the microSDHC between the modern computer (that has a suitable card reader attached) and the vintage computer.
The following text applies to the present generation of the ISA PicoMEM.
The ISA PicoMEM is described by its creator, FreddyV, at here.
My experience of the ISA PicoMEM is described at here.
In order to support the BIOS expansion ROM on the ISA PicoMEM:
• If your vintage computer is an IBM PC (IBM 5150), the motherboard needs to contain the final revision of motherboard BIOS.
• If your vintage computer is a Compaq Portable 1, the motherboard needs to contain a BIOS that supports BIOS expansion ROM's.
The present generation of ISA PicoMEM uses .IMG files for the hard drive functionality. That means, that when you have the microSDHC in the modern computer, to add/remove files to the PicoMEM's hard drive, you need to open up the .IMG file using something like WinImage software, and add/remove the files in that.
